The Parade

Wed - Sun, May 2 - Aug 26, 2012
New Museum
In the hands of Swedish artist Nathalie Djurberg, animation becomes a medium for transgressive and nightmarish allegories of desire and malcontent. “The Parade: Nathalie Djurberg with Music by Hans Berg” is Djurberg’s most ambitious multimedia installation to date. Originally organized by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Djurberg will adapt this spectacular installation for the New Museum’s ‘Studio 231’ space.

ArtUp: Ordo Ab Chao

Wednesday, March 14 - Sunday, June 10
FABnyc
Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) presents Ordo Ab Chao by BEAU, as part of ArtUp, FABnyc’s rotating public art program. The outdoor component of the exhibition will feature a panoramic mixed-media mural mounted 14 feet above the sidewalk, on the ArtUp scaffolding bridge at the 70 East 4th Street Cultural Center. BEAU’s mural continues the artist’s ongoing examination into the seemingly chaotic systems of nature and mankind’s attempts to find order within these systems.

Post Plastica

May 31 - June 3 @ 7:30pm
Performance Space 122
Part live performance, part video installation, this piece offers a glimpse into a future in which celebrity culture has pitched a battle between the primacy of virtual and artistic lives; in which revolutionaries keep bees in a secret underground; and in which a half-woman, half-bear scientist has gained the upper hand…

Join us at El Museo's El Cafe for complimentary pre-show talks featuring guest experts, curated by the artists, nightly at 6:00pm.

Paul Zaloom's "White Like Me: A Honky Dory Puppet Show"

May 25 - June 2 @ 7:30pm, June 8 & 9 @ 9:30pm
Dixon Place
Zaloom employs the intimate medium of toy theater to tell the story of the archetypal White-Man: he leaves his planet Caucazoid, travels through space to “civilize” Earth, becomes a philanthropist, a savior, and finally freaks out about his approaching minority status. Don’t miss the rare NYC appearance of this legendary downtown puppeteer!

Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind

Fridays & Saturdays @ 10:30pm
The New York Neo-Futurists
Our show is an ever-changing attempt to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes--an original concept by Greg Allen and the Neo-Futurists. The single unifying element of these plays is that they are performed from a perspective of absolute honesty. Each short play is written by a performer, honed by the ensemble, and randomly collaged with twenty-nine other plays through high energy audience participation.

Tickets: $12-17.

DIE: Roll to Proceed

Daily @ 10:30pm
Mind The Art Entertainment
Imagine if you will a world unencumbered by the stress of decision-making, a world where you never have to wonder if you made the “right” decision. At pivotal moments in the play, the audience is called upon to break the fourth wall and roll the die on the protagonist’s behalf. Thanks to audience participation, George and his reclusive roommate Rob embark on a comical, strange, and seemingly unpredictable journey. Their fate… Your hands… Roll the DIE.
