Worth Telling: 18 Artists Respond to 18 Writers

Thursday, August 30th - Tuesday, September 11th @ 3:30PM
Clemente Soto Valez Cultural Center
What makes a story so important that you want to share it? To explore this question, 18 writers were asked to share 100-word passages to which 18 visual artists responded. Visitors are invited to guess which artist's work was inspired by which passage. Worth Telling investigates the urge to share stories though an exhibition of all-new visual art. Gallery hours are daily, from 3:30PM until 7PM. Free admission!

Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind

Fridays & Saturdays @ 10:30pm
The New York Neo-Futurists
Our show is an ever-changing attempt to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes--an original concept by Greg Allen and the Neo-Futurists. The single unifying element of these plays is that they are performed from a perspective of absolute honesty. Each short play is written by a performer, honed by the ensemble, and randomly collaged with twenty-nine other plays through high energy audience participation.

Tickets: $12-17.

Ukrainian Kilims: Journey of a Heritage

Wed-Sun, February 12-March 21 @ 11:30am - 5:00pm
The Ukrainian Museum
Traditional Ukrainian kilims – flat tapestry rugs, woven on vertical or horizontal looms to produce stylized floral ornamentation or geometric patterns, respectively – are made with naturally dyed wool, yielding rich, soft hues that add to their beauty and warmth. The more than 35 prized examples are representative of centuries-old weaving traditions and attest to the arduous journey undertaken by Ukrainians escaping the ravages of war with their most cherished possessions.
