Founded by artist Julia Justo, East Village Art View (EVAV) is an inclusive exhibition space in a NYC apartment. It uses the traditional format of a gallery setting to mitigate and confront systemic problems of exclusiveness in the arts. It seeks to provide a platform for presentation of projects by overlooked and marginalized communities as well as to create dialogue between artists and audiences on a global stage.

Hours: Thursdays and Fridays by appointment

We are pleased to invite independent curators, artists and arts professionals to submit exhibition proposals to be considered for the gallery space. A Visual Arts Review Panel will select exhibitions based on the strength of the art and curatorial concept. Please review the guidelines below before submitting:

1) Submissions will be judged on merit; you do not have to be a professionally trained curator to submit a proposal.

2) Group exhibitions are strongly encouraged (note: group shows are defined as 3 or more artists)

3) Artists acting in a curatorial role for a proposed group exhibition may include their own work in a proposal, i.e. you may not submit a solo show for yourself.

4) Proposals that include an additional fee-based open call will not be considered.

5) We do not accept proposals from undergraduate or graduate students.
