Programs & Communications Associate
The Programs & Communications Associate supports FAB’s public programs, communications, and administrative operations. This position plays a key role in FAB’s work and would be joining a small team of four.
Communications & Administrative Support
- Support the development and distribution of materials that promote FAB’s programs, events, artist opportunities, and community initiatives.
- Manage FAB’s social media, website, and other public-facing platforms.
- Create engaging written & visual content highlighting artists, partners, and FAB programs.
- Support outreach to local residents, artists, community organizations, cultural partners, and neighborhood stakeholders to strengthen awareness and participation in FAB programs.
- Manage FAB’s general information email account and respond to or direct inquiries as appropriate.
- Assist with organizational storytelling by gathering program documentation, photos, and other materials for communications, reports, fundraising efforts, and grant applications.
- Coordinate administrative processes related to programming, including artist contracts, invoicing, basic bookkeeping, and more.
Programs & Event Support
- Support the planning and execution of FAB’s public programs and events, including logistics, event setup and breakdown, artist coordination, and community engagement.
- Assist with the management of FAB’s rehearsal and event rentals, including scheduling, calendar oversight, and communications.
- Help ensure program and event spaces are welcoming, functional, and prepared for public use.
- Support facilities management related to programming and events.
Qualifications
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in community-oriented and public-facing environments.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively while taking initiative and managing responsibilities independently.
- Demonstrated interest in arts administration, cultural programming, community engagement, or nonprofit communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in communications, arts administration, nonprofit programming, community engagement, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Lower East Side cultural sector and/or nonprofit arts community.
- Bilingual with language proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Fujianese or another language commonly spoken in the Lower East Side and Chinatown.
- Experience writing communications materials such as newsletters, press releases, or grant narratives
- Proficiency with Adobe, WordPress, Mailchimp, or similar communications platforms.
- Familiarity with event production, AV systems, or live arts programming environments.
- Ability to lift & carry items for event production (chairs, tables, and basic tech equipment) as well as spend significant time standing during events.
Compensation: $27/hour
This is a part-time position with an average of 32/hrs a week; preference for candidates who are able to work 10am-5:30pm Monday through Wednesday plus evening events on Thursdays and have weekend flexibility to support FAB’s programs as needed.
