FABnyc was founded 23 years ago by a coalition of cultural and community nonprofits on East 4th Street to save their homes. Today our commitment to sustaining the cultural character and diversity of the community extends across the Lower East Side.

We continue to work in partnership with the Lower East Side community, bringing artists & arts strategies to fight physical and cultural displacement, build collective power and collaboration, increase equity and access to cultural resources and public space, and support local resiliency and community health.

In 2024, we presented and commissioned over 90 local artists. We collaborated with over 60 nonprofits, community gardens and small businesses. We brought 24 events with free programs and hands-on arts activities to 11 outdoor LES sites, including Sara Roosevelt Park, Avenue B, Cooper Plaza, and local NYCHA developments.

All of our programs preserve, sustain, and grow the cultural vibrancy of the Lower East Side. Programs in 2024 included..

– The Lower East Side Young Artists of Color Fellowship

– Lower East Side History Month

– Open Arts LES

– The Lower East Side Arts & Culture Open House

– Kintecoying Now!

– Public art installations such as The Guardians and HALO

We ask that you consider making a donation to FAB to show a vote for our programs and a backing of our vision to advance cultural equity in the Lower East Side. Every dollar counts. Trust us; at FAB, we’ve known the power of just one dollar since our founding in 2001.

Thank you, warmly,
