Open Arts LES: Isadora Benítez & Gabriel Hermida

Isadora & Gabriel are a dynamic musical duo with over 20 years of collaboration and more than 1,000 performances across New York City, the U.S., and South America. Longtime East Village residents, they blend Gypsy Jazz, Brazilian, Bolero, and Flamenco influences into a unique and engaging musical experience.

Isadora Benítez is a vocalist and guitarist whose style merges jazz inflections with her vibrant Latin heritage and a deep love for Brazilian music. Gabriel Hermida, a guitarist and composer, draws from classical tango, flamenco, and jazz, bringing rhythmic precision and emotional depth to the duo’s sound.

Together, they have performed at top venues such as Lincoln Center Jazz Atrium, Blue Note, SummerStage Central Park, and United Palace, and have collaborated with artists including Leo Dan, Savion Glover, Gipsy Kings, Jack DeJohnette, and Richard Bona.

Isadora & Gabriel offer an interactive, story-driven performance that’s both sophisticated and joyfully accessible. Their shows blend upbeat party rhythms with soulful ballads, rooted in Gypsy Jazz, Brazilian, Bolero, and Flamenco traditions.

Audiences are treated to a multi-lingual musical journey—sung in English, Spanish, and Portuguese—that celebrates cultural diversity through rhythm, harmony, and narrative. Perfect for intimate stages, community events, and concert venues, their performance is a lively exchange of music and storytelling.

Their current project, ‘Romantic Guitar’, explores a fusion of Brazilian and Argentine traditions with the fiery spirit of Gypsy Jazz and Flamenco.
